Calculation of the characteristics of multichannel array-receiving systems
Abstract
An analysis is presented of the sensitivity and dynamic range of an array-receiving system that is multichannel in terms of input and single-channel in terms of output; it is assumed that all the elements of the system are matched and that mutual couplings between radiators are absent. It is shown that sensitivity characteristics can be calculated on the basis of available formulas for a single-channel system using the transmission coefficients of sections of the multichannel part for independent noise. The concepts of local and integral dynamic ranges are introduced: the local dynamic range is determined from results of direct measurements, while the integral dynamic range is calculated from known transmission coefficients of line sections for independent noise and completely correlated synphase signals.
