Wave resistance and energy losses in a cylindrical slotted line
Abstract
A method for calculating wave resistance, and ohmic and dielectric losses in a cylindrical slotted line (CSL) is developed, and numerical results are presented. It is shown that a CSL is somewhat more high-ohmic than an analogous planar line. The total attenuation of a surface fundamental wave (in the absence of attenuation) for geometric dimensions of alpha = 0.1 lambda and 2theta = 10 deg ranges from fractions of a decibel per meter in the three-centimeter range to units of decibels per meter in the millimeter range. In order to determine ohmic losses, a model that takes into account the round-off radius of the edge of a real thin conductor is used.
