The application of mathematical programming to problems of the diffraction synthesis of antennas
Abstract
A two-stage procedure for the numerical solution of antenna synthesis problems is described. The first stage consists in the rigorous analysis of diffraction phenomena, while the second stage involves mathematical programming to choose the optimal solution. As an example, attention is given to the optimization of the excitation of a circular cylindrical antenna for which the field amplitude in the shadow zone is minimized under a series of energetic constraints.
