Regimes of mixed convection in a vertical layer whose boundaries undergo unsteady deformation
Abstract
The effect of the spatial-periodic deformation of boundaries on convective flows in a vertical layer is investigated for the case of mixed convection using methods of the perturbation theory. For Grashof numbers close to the critical value, four different stable flow regimes are identified, and their stability regions and transition characteristics are determined. The results obtained show that spatial modulation of boundary conditions provides a way to control the stability of convective flows.
