Relaxation problem of the tetragonal and hexagonal systems in the elastic theory of a continuum
Abstract
Extending our previous method, the relaxation problem of the tetragonal and hexagonal systems in the elastic theory of a continuum is studied quantitatively. Then, the factor, which gives the extent of the anisotropic distribution for the ionic displacements around point defects and contributes to the relaxation energies in the elastic theory of a continuum, is also obtained. Numerical calculations are undertaken for 2 tetragonal (In, β-Sn) and 5 hexagonal (Be, Mg, Co, Zn, Cd) crystals.
