The 4He(π-, n)3H reaction in a Δ-hole model
Abstract
The 4He(π-, n)3H reaction in the resonance region is studied within the framework of the Δ-hole model. The basic mechanism of the pion absorption is assumed to be the ΔN --> NN transition and the interaction parameters for this transition are determined through the analysis of the d(π+, p)p reaction. The present model is found to describe the main features of the observed cross sections for the 4He(π-, n)3H reaction, although it fails to explain the details of the angular distribution.
