The precision of angular extrapolation for determining the deuteron asymptotic D to Sstate ratio
Abstract
We consider the effects of truncating the polynomial series used to obtain the deuteron D to Sstate ratio from the angular extrapolation ofσT_{22} in d + p elastic scattering. A model incorporating the cos θdependence of the Coulomb, neutronexchange, nucleon rescattering, and pionic amplitudes is used to estimate the truncation correction. This correction may be enhanced by Coulomb effects, which can be simply removed from the extrapolation procedure.
