Low Energy Baryon-Baryon Interactions Based on a Quark Pairing Mechanism.
Abstract
A one-boson and two-boson exchange model for nucleon -nucleon elastic scattering is analyzed. The meson exchange mechanism takes into account the finite size and internal quark structure of the nucleons using the M.I.T. bag model. The interaction model is based on a quark pairing mechanism. Predicted phase shifts and low energy parameters are compared with experimental data. The sensitivity to the boson and cut -off parameters is studied. The one-boson exchange model has been extended to the hyperons. The two-boson exchange amplitudes for hyperon-nucleon interactions initiated by the quark pairing mechanism are calculated. The results are compared with existing cross section data. The nucleon-nucleon coupling contants and S-wave phase shifts are calculated also from the quark pairing mechanism in the framework of the constituent quark model.
