Iterative method for calculating ideal gas flow fields in LAVAL jets
Abstract
An iteration procedure is presented which allows ideal gas flow fields in even, symmetrical, and rotationally symmetric LAVAL jets to be determined with satisfactory accuracy. The procedure can be generalized to nonsymmetrical, even jets and to real, friction-free gases. Calculative examples are given which show that the procedure converges rapidly; the second and third approximations provide a sufficiently accurate flow field. The method can be used to determine flow relationships for cascades, airfoil wings, and rotationally symmetric flight structures.
