Chemical reactions and relaxation in a stream of recombining atoms
Abstract
The efficiency of recombination processes during the mixing of a stream of O2-O-I atoms with a cold buffer of argon gas at the throat of a nozzle has been analyzed by computer. The gain is found as a function of the amount of argon flowing through the nozzle and is plotted against the basic parameter determining the efficiency of a recombining medium. The results show that the use of a buffer gas flow significantly improves the characteristics of the recombining media, and the gain reaches a level sufficient for lasing.
