Semiconductor waveguide heterostructure integrated with an optical device for interference illumination
Abstract
A new optical system for interference illumination which is integrated with a semiconductor waveguide heterostructure is discussed. This arrangement is particularly promising for producing periodic optical inhomogeneities. The optical arrangement of the system is shown, and the light intensity distribution in the active layer is discussed. The system has been used to develop a laser with a distributed feedback through a dynamic diffraction grating. The output spectrum and the spontaneous emission spectrum of the laser are shown and discussed.
