Tunable distributed-feedback semiconductor laser pumped by a heterostructure injection laser
Abstract
Tunable Bragg lasers with a continuously tunable output wavelength in the 1.55 micron spectral region have been fabricated from a GaInAsP/InP heterostructure and an AlGaAs heterostructure laser. The pumping characteristics of the lasers are discussed. These devices can be used to study the characteristics of optical fibers and photodetectors in the spectral interval which is the optimum interval for quartz fibers. They can also be used for experiments on exciton droplets in germanium.
