Experimental study of the dispersion of the dimensionality conversion of surface waves
Abstract
An experimental study of the dispersion properties of the dimensionality conversion of surface waves is reported. In the experiment, a three-dimensional waveguide wave is converted into a two-dimensional plate wave in the distributed coupling region, and in a second coupling region it is converted back into a three-dimensional waveguide wave. The characteristics of the waveguides and the resulting waves are identified. The experimental frequency dependence of the power transfer ratio for two values of waveguide thickness is shown, demonstrating the resonant nature of the effect. Results on the dispersion of the exit angle are given.
