A model for the film flow of a fluid along the surface of a convergent nozzle
Abstract
An equation for the thickness of a fluid layer flowing down a convergent nozzle is obtained on the basis of the equations of the boundary layer. A comparison between analytical results and experimental data shows that the equation proposed here provides an adequate description of the film flow in the main section of a convergent nozzle over a wide range of nozzle angles and spraying densities. In the nozzles having an opening angle over 90 deg, two-dimensional laminar film flows are observed over a wide range of flow rates.
