Evaluation of smooth trajectories using flight target and radar information
Abstract
The use of smoothing procedures is suggested in order to improve the pure filter estimation rates for target tracking, now optimal only at the top of the sweep, over a longer observation interval. A modified variant of the Rauch-Tung-Striebel algorithm which is usable in real time is employed as a smoothing algorithm. The possibility of lightening the load on radar observers via an integrated, smoothed sweep display and an adapted alpha-numeric output of the smoothed state values is discussed.
