Correlation between luminosity and temperature in γ-ray burst sources
Abstract
Observations on Venera 13 and 14, reported here, reveal a strong correlation between the temporal and spectral behaviour of the γ-ray bursts. The instantaneous luminosity of a -ray burst is determined primarily by its temperature. This implies that the time profile of the γ-ray bursts directly reflects the spectral variability pattern of radiation. Studying the L versus kT relationship may present a new way of understanding the nature of this puzzling phenomenon.
