A study of the emission spectrum of a TEA CO2 laser with an intracavity absorber
Abstract
An experiment is reported in which concurrent lasing on a series of vibrational-rotational lines in three different bands of a CO2 molecule was achieved in a TEA laser using a CO2:N2:He (1:1:5) mixture at 0.5 atm. Tuning was accomplished by varying the temperature of an intracavity cell filled with carbon dioxide. In the experiment, the maximum output power did not exceed 100 kW. However, the maximum laser power can be significantly increased by optimizing the laser parameters.
