A possible change in pulsation mode of the R Coronae Borealis star, S Apodis.
Abstract
The small amplitude variations in the light curve of S Apodis, usually attributed to pulsation of the star, have in the past shown a periodicity of about 120 days. Visual observations by New Zealand astronomers indicate that a period near 40 days has developed. This may be due to a change from the fundamental mode of pulsation to an overtone.
