Problems of the computer-aided design of active phased arrays
Abstract
A general mathematical model for an active phased array is developed on the basis of models for the individual components of the array. The model proposed here provides a way to relate the characteristics of the radiating array panel to the output characteristics of the active elements. The model can be used for the analysis of active phased array irrespective of the type of radiators, active elements, and current distribution and tuning circuits. Various numerical implementations of mathematical models for components of active phased arrays are evaluated with respect to their efficiency. Design strategies and the construction of efficiency functions for the optimization of active phase arrays on the basis of various criteria are examined.
