Polarization effects and anisotropy of the interaction of acoustic waves in crystals
Abstract
Recent theoretical and experimental research in crystal acoustics and acousto-electronics is summarized, with particular attention given to polarization effects and nonlinear phenomena associated with the propagation of elastic waves in crystals. The discussion covers acousto-electronic interactions between bulk and surface waves in semiconductor piezoelectric crystals and piezoelectric-semiconductor layered structures; the anisotropy of the interaction of acoustic waves in crystals; and experimental methods used in crystal acoustics and acousto-electronics. Tables of thermodynamic coefficients and thermodynamic equations are given to facilitate the calculation of the anisotropy of linear and nonlinear effects in crystal acoustics.
