Morphological stability of the solidification interface under convective conditions
Abstract
The morphological stability of a solidification front is studied using a "deformable" boundary layer model which, unlike that of Hurle, allows solutions, even at very high levels of convection. Contradictions of the previous boundary layer models are also eliminated by this model which obtains the distinction of the different hydrodynamic regimes as far as the perturbation critical wavelengths are concerned as explained in Delves' complete study.
