Lunar tidal oscillations in the electron content of the mid-latitude ionosphere.
Abstract
The total electron content N(T) and the shape factor data obtained at Lancaster (54 deg N, 3 deg W) using ATS-6 radio beacon measurements of the polarization rotation and the group delay, made during 1975-76, have been analyzed for lunar tidal oscillations. Similar analyses were also carried out for the F2 region peak electron density N(max) data obtained from the Dourbes (50 deg N, 5 deg E) ionosonde for the same period and also for the slab thickness data deduced from N(T) and N(max). The results of this analysis are presented in conjunction with previous work on lunar tides.
