Heat transfer in the internally heated cylindrical probe of a hot-film anemometer
Abstract
It has been shown theoretically and experimentally that heat transfer between the film and the dielectric substrate of a hot-film anemometer probe significantly affects the metrological characteristics of the instrument. Heat transfer between the film and the substrate can be reduced by using an internal heat source. The performance of a probe with an internal heat source is analyzed here using a model in the form of a cylinder with a surface heat source and an internal heat source. The results of the analysis show that the use of an internal heat source is an effective means of improving the performance of a cylindrical hot-film probe.
