Far-field radiation patterns of elliptical apertures and its annuli
Abstract
A Fourier transform technique is developed in order to obtain expressions for the diffraction field due to elliptical apertures and their annuli. Perspective plots of the intensity distribution diagrams are presented for various values of the axis ratio. Several cases of the far-field intensity distribution due to an elliptical aperture are examined, including the circular aperture, the elliptic annulus (similar ellipses and confocal ellipses), and annular circular aperture.
