External and internal mutual impedance effects on the radiation patterns of circularly disposed arrays using antennafiers or passive monopoles
Abstract
The present investigation is concerned with a theoretical analysis of circularly disposed receiving arrays of monopole or dipole elements for general cases in which all the elements are purely passive or are all integrated elements (antennafiers). A three-dimensional view of a circularly disposed-antenna array (CDAA) is presented. The axis of each monopole (or dipole) element is parallel to the Z-axis. The performance characteristics of a specific, commercially available antennafier are used in numerical calculations of array radiation patterns. Calculated radiation patterns are discussed, taking into account the effect of an impedance-mismatched beamforming network (BFN), and the effect of increased monopole height.
