Simplified computation of coplanar waveguide with finite conductor thickness
Abstract
The present investigation has the objective to introduce a simplified computer-aided method for evaluating the line parameters of a coplanar waveguide with finite conductor thickness. Particular attention is given to the conductor and dielectric losses of the line. It is pointed out that this simplified method, which reduces the computer memory requirements and processing time, proves to be sufficiently accurate for practical purposes. An analysis of line parameters is presented, taking into account the potential distribution and the electric field, the current distribution over the conductor surface, the characteristic impedance, the dielectric loss, and the conductor loss. A numerical analysis is conducted, and computational results are provided.
