Resonant sum and difference frequency mixing in Hg
Abstract
It is experimentally demonstrated that two-photon resonant four-wave sum mixing in Hg vapor is an efficient process for generating very intense vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation in large portions of the 1090-1960 spectral range. The pulse power of the generated VUV light is typically 0.5-3 kW. Results are presented in detail for the resonant conversion schemes: 6 1S0-7 1S0, 6 1S0-6 1D2, 6 1S0-7 1D2. Results on four-wave parametric oscillation and nonresonant frequency mixing are also presented.
