Pulsed gain and thermal lensing of Nd:LiYF4
Abstract
Measurements show that a 1 cm diameter Nd:YLF rod amplifier produces extremely weak thermal lensing when pulse pumped at 3 Hz to a gain of 13 at 1053 nm. Direct comparison with Nd:YAG indicates much weaker thermal lensing effects for both ordinary and extraordinary polarizations in Nd:YLF.
