Integrals of motion for the classical twobody problem with drag
Abstract
Integrals of motion for the twobody problem with drag are obtained by operating on the secondorder vector differential equation describing the motion. The force field consists of an inversesquare gravitational attraction and a drag force proportional to the velocity vector and inversely proportional to the square of the distance to the attracting center. The developed integrals are the analogs of the Keplerian scalar energy, the vector angular momentum, and the Laplace vector.
