Operational principles of synthetic aperture imaging radars
Abstract
A basic integral equation to govern the operation of Synthetic Aperture Imaging Radar (SAR) is presented and is solved to obtain the microwave reflectivity of the region scanned by the radar. This equation, which connects targets and their radar echoes, is solved by two methods: the conventional Fresnel transform approach and a new digital technique.
