Three-dimensional model of the thermosphere.
Abstract
A mathematical model of the thermosphere is developed on the basis of the three-dimensional equations of hydrothermodynamics. The model takes into account the self-consistent variation of the composition, dynamics, and energetics of the thermosphere in the 80-350 km height region. An algorithm based on the splitting method is proposed for the numerical implementation of the model equations. Attention is given to examples of numerical calculations characterizing the stabilization of the solution and the role of zonal mass, momentum, and energy transfer.
