Numerical investigation of the propagation of a linear wave packet in a boundary flow
Abstract
The propagation of wave packets with low noise levels in a boundary layer is studied. A rectangular region of integration is used to evaluate the reaction of the flow to disturbances using the full Navier-Stokes equations. The wave packet is evaluated downstream by shifting the area of integration. A calculation example covering the range of the Reynolds number from 600 to 1100 is presented.
