The possibility of studying the bimodal spectra of particles in surface-layer aerosols with a three-frequency lidar
Abstract
The possibility of employing a three-frequency lidar for investigating the microstructure of surface layer aerosols and determining the bimodal spectra of the particle sizes is demonstrated. It is noted that even lidar measurements at three wavelengths which do not establish the bimodality of the structure provide valuable information. For example, the mesurements would provide a fully satisfactory picture of such integral characteristics of microstructure as the total geometric cross section.
