The method of canonical transformations in classical electrodynamics
Abstract
Consideration is given to the application of the method of canonical transformations to the propagation of electromagnetic waves in anisotropic plane-stratified media. A new derivation of the parabolic-equation method is given, and a canonical theory is developed for determining radio-wave reflection and transmission coefficients in the ionosphere.
