An automatic fitting procedure for comparing observed and computed spectral distributions
Abstract
An automatic fitting procedure based on a least squares optimization algorithm, for comparing, on the basis of objective criteria, observed and computed spectral energy distributions is presented. It can be used to derive the atmospheric parameters of stars. The availability of large-memory computers and the availability of observational and theoretical data on flexible computer-compatible supports make it possible to apply such a procedure to large sets of observations in very short times.
