The first finding of suessite on the earth
Abstract
Suessite, first observed in meteorites, has been found in Central Asia on the southern slope of the Chatkal ridge in the composition of basalt and andesite-basalt porphyrites and in the Gavasaiskii ore field in gabbro-diabase dikes. This paper examines the chemical composition of this mineral, describes the X-ray analysis, and discusses the formation of suessite in the earth's core in terms of postmagmatic processes.
