Anisotropic ionization in the ionosphere
Abstract
The ionizing capacity of cosmic-ray particles in the ionosphere is investigated analytically, extending the results of Velinov (1983) to the case of an arbitrary spatial distribution. A general expression for the velocity profiles of electron production is obtained. Techniques are suggested to apply the results to the quantitative evaluation of complex distribution functions such as those recently observed in precise space experiments.
