Laser-induced damage in optical materials: thirteenth ASTM symposium
Abstract
The Thirteenth Annual Symposium on Optical Materials for High Power Lasers, 1981, was divided into sections concerned with materials and measurements, mirrors and surfaces, thin films, and fundamental mechanisms. Emphasis was given to materials applicable to high power devices in the wavelength range from 10.6 microns to the UV region. Highlights of the state-of-the-art technology covered included surface characterization techniques, thin film substrate boundaries, and advancements in fundamental laser-matter threshold interactions and mechanisms. Attention was given to the scaling of damage thresholds with pulse duration, focal area, and wavelength.
