The Empirical Mass-Luminosity Relation
Abstract
On the basis of the most recent data for visual and spectrophotometric binaries, the empirical mass-luminosity relation has been investigated. It is shown that, for the sample collected, the relation may be divided into three parts, for which numerical relations are given. A table summarizing the observational results on the fractional mass of the secondary component in visual systems is given.
