A determination of the electron density fluctuation spectrum in the solar wind, using the ISEE propagation experiment
Abstract
The ISEE propagation experiment has been used to obtain a new determination of the electron density fluctuation spectrum in the free solar wind in the vicinity of the earth. The preliminary analysis suggests that a single, Kolmogorov-type power law spectrum does not fit the data adequately over the entire range of distance scales covered by the experiment, which extends from about 102 km to 106 km: the spectrum appears to flatten for wavelengths shorter than about 4000 km.
