Coherent spread spectrum systems
Abstract
This book focuses primarily on the synchronization of direct sequence spread spectrum systems using coherent carrier demodulation. Synchronous pseudonoise coded spread spectrum systems are considered along with aspects of PCM code formatting and spectra, modulation of multichannel coherent systems, phase-locked loops, and tracking with suppressed carrier loops. An introduction to linear pseudonoise sequences is provided and a description is presented of coherent detection of coherent modulated signals, a PN code spread spectrum system, PN code acquisition and lock detection performance, PN code tracking, Gold codes, and symbol synchronization for PSK. Attention is given to correlation properties of periodic binary sequences, preferred pairs of maximal length codes, optimum bit synchronization, and a digital data transition tracking loop.
