Jet mixing
Abstract
Turbulent mixing processes were experimentally investigated and compared with flow field calculations based on turbulence models. The flow characteristics in the mixing channel were measured with hot-wire anemometers. Several numerical methods and turbulence models were used to calculate the turbulent flow fields. It is shown that the value of these methods and models can only be demonstrated if precise and detailed experimental results are available. The present state of the models does not allow an efficient calculation of the mixing processes.
