Evaluation of fabric interlayers
Abstract
Fabric underseals were placed in asphalt concrete overlay systems in four different regions of Texas in 1979 and 1980. The overlaid pavements included asphalt concrete, portland cement concrete and a freshly cold-milled asphalt concrete. Relative reflection cracking was evaluated annually on these test sections for up to three years. Laboratory tests on the construction materials were performed. At this time, there is no substantial evidence from which one could conclude that one fabric offers an advantage over another fabric or that fabric, in general, is better than none at all.
