Construction of a dosimeter for satellites
Abstract
A P-channel MOS transistor polarized to constant current was used in the development of a dosimeter whose continuous measurement of threshold tension gives the value of the dosage received. The operating principle is described and circuit diagrams are presented. Tests conducted to select the semiconductor whose degradation is characteristics of the dosage received in space are described as well as the calibration of the dosimeter to the diverse e(-) and X-ray sources characteristic of space radiation promoting continuous degradation. Ground simulation of the specific constraints of the SIGMA satellite on which six dosimeters with three different thicknesses of protection is discussed.
