A new family of Selenia tracking radars - System solutions and experimental results
Abstract
This X-band monopulse fully coherent tracking radar makes use of a pulse-coded waveform for the medium-range mode (approximately 50 km unambiguous range). For the short-range mode (approximately 10 km), it uses a high-pulse-repetition-frequency, single-pulse waveform. Other features are adaptive MTI signal processing with closed-loop Doppler correction and adaptive anti-multipath angular error processing. The system features (1) a monopulse antenna head, with twist of polarization to reduce sidelobe levels; (2) a wideband low-noise RF receiver, including a built-in system for monopulse channel matching; and (3) a coherent transmitter type using a TWT amplifier final stage and solid state frequency generation. It combines analog and digital signal processing and uses SAW, CCD, and microprocessor technologies.
