Reduced cost low sidelobe reflector antenna systems
Abstract
The present lightweight and easily producible antenna system has yielded performance levels which are in general agreement with theoretical predictions and demonstrate the potential for producing surveillance beams with good control of sidelobe radiation. The simplicity of the feed system offers the possibility of dual-polarized operation, together with the incorporation of additional beams. Although the azimuth plane resolution of such additional beams is limited by phase error effects, reflector shaping techniques may be used to arrive at a useful compromise in design.
