The penalty function method in mechanics - A review of recent advances
Abstract
A review of the recent developments in the penalty-finite element analysis of problems both in fluid and solid mechanics is presented. Numerical solutions of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and the equations governing the motion of the von Karman plates are discussed. Suggestions for future research in penalty function methods are made.
