Optimal diversity of noncoherent MFSK receivers in slow fading channels
Abstract
The optimum diversity of M-ary FSK receivers using noncoherent energy combining for slow fading channels is presented. The results were obtained by fitting curves to extrema of error probabilities. Key results are summarized in terms of Eb/N0 degradation vs. diversity order N and error probability vs. N for various signal alphabet size M. The asymptotic behavior of the Eb/N0 degradation for large N is also developed and results are shown for limiting (nonfading) cases.
