Numerical simulation of homogeneous anisotropic turbulence
Abstract
Simulation results are presented for homogeneous turbulence with a constant mean velocity gradient, on the basis of a formulation derived from that proposed by Rogallo (1977, 1981) which allows a simulation to be performed with periodic spectral methods. A numerical scheme is also presented. Attention is given to the computer code by which the simulation is given a three-dimensional implementation. The computer code permits the completion of up to 30 simulations per year. The first simulations planned are for the cases of two successive plane strains and a superimposition of plane strain upon a rotation with variable ratio.
