A class of exact solutions of the laminar-boundary-layer equations
Abstract
An effort is made to find possible classes of physical flows for which the family of velocity profiles in the boundary layer for non-self-similar flows depends only on one parameter. The method of direct integration is used to construct a solution of the boundary layer equation; a numerical solution is obtained by the finite difference method. The analysis of boundary layers on a circular cylinder and a sphere is considered by way of illustration.
